Freedom yoga has given me an opportunity to explore my energy and practice vulnerability in the safe space of my room. They offer such a wide variety of classes and all teachers are knowledgeable and kind. I’ve learned so much and have strengthened my body and healed my mind. I found this gem in quarantine but I don’t think I could go back to a regular studio after this.
Freedom Yoga has been my anchor throughout the Pandemic! Being able to practice yoga and grow in community while being in the safety of my home was a huge benefit for my mental health and overall wellbeing. As I was new to yoga, it was great to learn about so many healing modalities through the variety of classes including different forms of yoga and special offerings like Qi Gong, Energy Healing, Dharma, and more. The thing that sets Freedom Yoga apart is the community we aim to build and serve- we aim to “walk the path” of healing beyond the physical. As someone who is currently (and continuously) healing myself and endeavoring to break the cycles of pain from the generations before me, I’ve truly found a home here at Freedom Yoga to support me on that path.
I had no idea when I joined Freedom Yoga 9 months ago just how much I would receive from these amazing online classes. I appreciate the dedication of the instructors and the monthly theme based mindfulness guidance. My body has increased in strength ,flexibility and relaxation over the months but so has my mind and soul.
No matter what mood I’m in when I come to my mat I always leave with a renewed sense of myself.
From the very first class, I have enjoyed Kim’s patient spirit, deep knowledge of yoga, and gentle instructions. As a yoga teacher myself, I need a teacher who can help me to stay grounded while growing in my practice. For two years, I have struggled with increasing arthritis pain. Kim’s classes have been the best medicine. She offers something for everyone—soothing Restorative to calm the mind and relax the body, Gentle flow to warm the muscles and deepen the poses, and powerful Vinyasa to engage mind, body, and soul. Yoga is a gift to yourself—and Kim is a gift to Yoga!
The classes at Freedom Yoga have allowed me to practice in a welcoming, safe, and supported space and it has helped me stay grounded during these challenging times. The instructors give helpful detailed instructions to ensure your body and mind are benefiting from every movement and pose. Classes are also open to all levels, I highly recommend taking classes at Freedom Yoga!
I started taking yoga classes with Kim about 18 months ago, as part of our Kaiser employee fitness program. I had never done yoga before, but had done lots of other sports and collected a variety of injuries over the years. The first thing that struck me about the classes was how good they made me feel. I was very nervous about causing old injuries to flare and was very careful to follow Kim's advice about modifying the movements, but was thrilled to find that my strength, balance, and flexibility increased class by class, and my sense of calm increased enormously.
I realized how much my life was changing was when I was waiting in the security line at SFO, a couple months after starting the yoga classes. Prior to that, I would get very anxious in the security line, but as I waited that day, I heard Kim's voice in my head telling me to breathe, feel my feet rooting into the ground, and all the anxiety melted away. I knew then that Kim had given me a very good thing.
With the COVID pandemic, the employee fitness classes had to stop, but I was very happy when Kim announced that she was offering virtual yoga classes through Freedom Yoga. In many ways, this has been a silver lining in an otherwise very tragic year.
My whole family has been participating in Freedom Yoga's classes for 6 months now, and every member has benefitted. I realize that under normal circumstances, we would not be able to attend as many classes just due to the barrier of having to drive back and forth to a brick-and-mortar studio, and I am grateful that we have so many classes available to us.
I look forward to each class, whether for energy at the beginning of the day, recharging in preparation for the afternoon, or winding down in the evening. As my body has gotten stronger, I have found that the chronic pain in my back and knees has decreased significantly, and I can do more than I ever thought could be possible.
Most important, learning to quiet my nervous system and calm my mind even in the midst of very stressful situations has made me a better doctor, spouse, and parent.
My family and I are very grateful to be part of the Freedom Yoga family. We hope you will join the Freedom Yoga family, too!
